A major publishing company of educational materials with a focus on STEM.
Translating a large series of students’ and teacher’s textbooks for middle school with content including Chemistry, Physics, Biology and Earth Sciences, and also taking care of producing the final, ready-to-publish documents within a very tight timeframe.
There were many areas of knowledge to tackle, so it was critical to assemble the best team for the job. The team of educational experts at Australis, together with the assigned project manager, selected the best translators and editors for the job and proceeded to create a project plan that would allow Australis to complete the job on time.
During the setup, it was paramount to determine the audience for each document, so Australis kept up continuous communication with the client in order to have a clear idea of the reading level desired for each file.
At the same time, the Graphic Design Team at Australis studied the English files in detail in order to prepare clear guidelines and instructions on how the translated files had to be processed in order to look exactly like the English files, with special attention to printing specifications.
Over 700,000 words and over 2,000 pages were processed according to the schedule, allowing all 12 textbooks to be delivered to the printer on time. No printing or design errors were reported, and the customer was extremely satisfied with the translations provided. In fact, they continue coming to us every year for the translation of new materials or updates.
A school that needed to communicate with parents that couldn’t speak English, and connect with the community at large.
The school has children enrolled from many immigrant families from different countries. While the children themselves speak English, their parents have limited language proficiency and it was difficult to share with them school reports, events and other news. Besides that, the community at large had a large percentage of immigrants they wanted to reach.
The main challenge was the number of languages that needed to be supported.
At Australis, we pride ourselves in supporting over 100 language combinations so it was easy for us to centralize the school’s translation requests and work with different teams of translators to handle every language.
The school was pleased with how easy it was to work with us and they are now able to reach all the families regardless of their language.
A publisher of eLearning interactive courses.
A series of eLearning courses needed to be translated and implemented on Articulate Storyline to 8 different languages. The deliverables needed to follow strict technical guidelines and have full Accessibility features.
Articulate Storyline projects aren’t for everyone; they require a deep technical knowledge and experience dealing with its intricacies.
These courses had a little bit of everything: from subtitling and voice-over work, to image localization and accessibility formatting.
They also went through several rounds of functional testing and in-context reviews that ensured that all languages were up to standards.
The end result was a set of courses localized to different languages that were free of errors, had accessibility settings and were compliant with the standards of the eLearning industry. It was a challenging project but our team was up to the task.
