The manufacturer of an industrial robot.
To translate the UI of a very complex industrial robot and integrate these highly technical translations into the existing software seamlessly. The strings of the UI were divided into different file formats (each with its own challenges) and the content was to be translated into 5 different languages. al financial terminology and investment strategies.
Using regular expressions, we created a process that allowed us to maintain the original structure of the files where the strings were located, while protecting the code from unwanted modifications.
We then put together five teams of technical translators with experience in robotics, one for each target language.
Many queries arose during the project due to its technical nature, and we made sure that all the teams received the answers from the customer, regardless of which team had raised the query. This ensured that all the translation teams had the exact same information about the project, producing uniformity across languages.
Finally, the files went through a post-processing and QA that returned them to the formats sent by the client.
The client was highly satisfied and, as the years went by, not only have we translated many updates but are also taking care of 2 more languages.
An online casino wanted to translate its UI to Spanish. It included online games and a platform for betting on sports events.
The strings for translation were divided into hundreds of files with different formats, including JS, JSON, YML, PHP and HTML.
We created a solution for each file type that allowed us to extract the text, translate it and then place it back together.
We also created a new QA method in which we compared the structure of both the original and the translated files and fixed any problems found. The QA procedure also included the comparison of folder structures in order to ensure that nothing was missing and that everything was in its right place. This was key to dealing with such a large number of files.
The website was launched successfully (and with no problems whatsoever) and the client expanded their user base by including all the Spanish speakers in Latin America and the United States.
A well-known state level healthcare agency.
The agency had created an online platform that allowed patients and doctors to have access to their medical records. They now wanted to make it accessible to Spanish-speaking patients.
This project was tricky from the linguistic side of things, since on one hand it was best to work with medical translators, but on the other hand they needed to deal with problems more common to IT translators. We closed this gap with a lot of coaching and mentoring.
We needed to take special care with UI items since the space for them was very limited.
The end of the project included a thorough in-context review of the localized platform, where we made sure that the translations made sense in the contexts in which they were presented and that there were no UI glitches at all.
The platform launched on time and was free of errors. Now, more people have access to their medical records and therefore to better healthcare.
